As we scale up, we are looking for an inspiring coffee professional to join our senior team, shape our training culture, and help drive the direction of our business.The RoleThis is a rare and exciting opportunity for an incredibly passionate coffee professional to share their knowledge and make a tangible impact. You will divide your time between our two café locations and our roastery.
Your mission is two-fold: building a world-class in-house training programme for our team, and supporting our growing wholesale partners with expert training and technical brewing advice.Alongside your training duties, you will lead by example on the shop floor. Working as a senior team member, you will set the standard for drinks preparation while acting as a crucial, responsible leader on shift. As our roastery expands, this role offers excellent scope to get more involved with the roasting and production side of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
*Training & Quality Control
* In-House Programme: Design, write, and deliver a comprehensive in-house coffee training programme for all café staff.
* Wholesale Support: Act as the primary contact for wholesale customers, handling brewing queries and conducting external training sessions to ensure their coffee quality matches our standards.
* Quality Assurance: Maintain strict quality control over espresso extraction, milk texturing, and alternative brewing methods across all locations.
* Café Operations & Leadership
* Senior Floor Presence: Work active shifts across both café sites, leading the team from the bar and delivering exceptional customer service.
* Shift Responsibility: Act as a key holder and responsible leader on shift, managing daily operations, troubleshooting issues, and supporting the team.
* Mentorship: Coach and inspire baristas on daily shifts to help them develop their skills and confidence.
* As a member of the roastery team you’ll be involved in aspects of green buying, quality control, menu and recipe development and be able to share that knowledge with our wholesale customers.
* Future Growth: Take on more active involvement in roastery operations and potentially production as the roastery side of the business expands.
What We Are Looking For:
* Coffee Expertise: Extensive experience as a senior barista, head barista, or coffee trainer with a deep understanding of espresso theory, brew recipes, and a grasp of sensory analysis.
* Educational Skills: A natural teacher who can translate complex coffee science into engaging, easy-to-understand training.
* Leadership & Reliability: Proven experience handling the responsibilities of running shifts, managing workflows, and leading a team under pressure.
* Flexibility: Happy to split your working week dynamically between our Bridport cafés, roastery and onsite training locally.
